What are prebiotics?
Prebiotics feed the good bacteria in the gut promoting their growth and helping to support a well balanced microbiome, with benefits for digestion and beyond. Prebiotics are also called soluble fibre, and we get them from a high plant based diet. There are many different types, so we need to eating a wide variety of different plants to increase the amount and range of prebiotic fibres and promote optimal bacterial balance. Prebiotics help probiotic bacteria produce important healthful postbiotic substances like short chain fatty acids, including butyrate, or butyric acid. Prebio Restore contains all the fibres your gut needs.
What's the difference between probiotics and prebiotics?
Probiotics are the good bacteria in our gut, while PREbiotics act as FOOD for good bacteria, promoting their growth and diversity. Sometimes probiotics might be needed to change the balance of bacteria in a positive direction, but ideally, we may be able to promote a healthy gut using prebiotics alone.
Do I need prebiotics?
Eating a very diverse diet of different fruits and vegetables every day is ideal, but we may not be able to get enough soluble fibre, so a supplement can ensure we top up our levels, mimicking a high diversity diet.
