Due to changes in modern diets and farming methods, most people aren't getting the levels of daily nutrient they need, even if we aim to eat a well-balanced diet. Due to this nutrition gap, your body is more susceptible to illnesses, which is why we have developed the Foundations of Health – to support lifelong wellbeing and keep you doing what you love.
Multivitamin
Multivitamins nourish the body by providing a range of vital vitamins and minerals.
These are essential for multiple body processes to function properly, as well as upkeep of overall health and your immune system. Taking a multivitamin is a great way to cover any nutrient gaps in your diet.
Some examples are:
-
zinc for immunity
-
vitamins D and K for strong bones
-
B vitamins for energy and brain function

Probiotic
Probiotics are friendly gut bacteria that support your digestion and beyond.
Our gut contains a whole ecosystem of bacteria and other organisms, living in a mutually beneficial health relationship: we give them a habitat to live in and they live off the food we eat (especially the fibre). This gut bacteria produces lots of healthy chemicals that help to protect and support our health.

Essential fatty acids
Good fats that are vital for cells to function properly.
Essential fats are used by the body to form the outside of our cells which is vital to how they work. In order to activate important physical processes in the body, the cells have to let certain substances in and out. The right fats in our cell walls are what makes this work effectively, like ensuring they are more receptive to hormones and brain chemical signals. These fats also form important chemicals that help to reduce inflammation when we have joint injuries, as well as helping to balance hormone regulation.
Most people tend to need extra omega 3 fats (eg: fish) as these tend to be lower in modern diets. However, other fats like omega 6, 7 & and 9 are really important for certain aspects of health too. Omega 6 is great for hormone balance, and omega 7 for skin, dry eyes.

Antioxidant
Antioxidants protect cells from damage and premature ageing.
Cell damage can come from normal metabolic activities, such as burning calories for energy or exposure to external sources through physical activity, sun and toxin exposure (eg: air quality). These ‘Free radicals’ are the unstable atoms that damage cells, but nature’s antioxidants can help to clear up that damage.
Vitamin C is perhaps the best-known antioxidant. It can be taken every day, helping to reduce free radicals, whilst also supporting skin, joints and bones by increasing collagen and boosting immunity.

What is the Nutrition Gap?

The concept of the Nutrition Gap was introduced in the 1990's and refers to the shortfall of nutrients that is common in most modern diets. This means that you may not be getting all the nutrients you need from your diet.
Although the developments of the modern world have done wonders for health and nutrition, but they have also introduced some challenges. Despite access to diverse foods and rising health awareness, studies show that even wholefoods today contain fewer nutrients than they used to. This gap is influenced by multiple factors, including:
-
A decline in nutritional value in food
-
Poor diet choices
-
Socioeconomic factors.
The good news? Bridging the gap is more simple than you may realise. High-quality supplements offer an easy, effective way to complement your diet and give your body the vital nutrients it needs to thrive every day.

Why has this happened?

Early forms of agriculture were sustainable for 2 key reasons:

Traditional agriculture replenished soil naturally with plant and animal waste.

Early ploughing techniques preserved beneficial fungi like mycorrhiza, which helped plants absorb minerals.
Why it matters

Consuming less nutrients can cause an increased risk to your health, both immediate and long-term. For example, it could result in your body being more susceptible to illness and even chronic diseases.
